About

Hi! My name is Ky Kiefer. I work in Seattle as an energy engineer and dabble in data analysis using Python on the side.

I'm making an effort to catalog my efforts in data analysis, data visualization, and programming projects through this blog.

I'm currently working at Cascade Energy as an energy engineer. Cascade Energy is an industrial energy efficiency consulting firm. I spend a lot of time in Excel cleaning data, modeling, and communicating data with electric utilities and their industrial customers.

I do the majority of my day-to-day work and analyses in Excel and started to become frustrated with its inefficiencies. I started experimenting with Python for data analysis on the side and began implementing it where I could at work. I enjoy experimenting with the Python data science stack and taking online courses in statistics.

Prior to Cascade Energy, I was working as a field engineer at Baker Hughes (now GE) where I used data to analyze and improve hydraulic fracturing design to maximize production.

I graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in chemical engineering and a concentration in energy systems engineering and sustainable engineering.

Outside of work, I enjoy trail running, playing in the mountains and overindulging in ice cream (current top pick: Terre AdeĢlice in Lyon, France).
